The group of Optics and Quantum Information (GOIQ), studies at the macro and microscopic scales, the interaction of electromagnetic radiation coherent with matter. The group works on the study of optical properties in semiconductor nanostructures such as quantum dots and rings, laser radiation material processing, spin state properties, electron-photon interaction, electronic structure calculation and coherent control of quantum states in tightly confined systems. We address several problems related to optics and quantum information in atomic and solid state systems. The group is particularly interested in the study of dynamic control of qubit, proposals for dynamic and geometric logic gates, decoherence protection strategies and reservoir engineering.
