The Graduate Program in Physics - PPFIS
The Physics Post Graduation Program of Institute of Physics from Universidade Federal de Uberlândia (UFU), was recommended by the Scientific Committee of CAPES on the year of 2001, as published in Diário Oficial da União (D.O.U.) at 07/18/2001, starting academic activities in March 2002 after the creation of it’s Master’s Degree Course. In 2007, the Physics Institute submitted to the High Councils of the University the project for the creation of the Doctorate’s Degree Course, beeing aproved in all internal instances of the Institution. After submission to CTC/CAPES, it was recommended the creation of the course with concept 4. The consequences of this break through reflected on the motivation of the faculty in seeking permanently new technical and scientific interchanges with other ressearch institutions, thus reinforcing our national and international insertion. It’s Worth pointing that most of our Master’s Degree Graduates have been absorbed by Doctorate’s Degree Program in well known national and international institutions, such as: UNB, USP/SP, USP/SC, UFF, UFSCar, Ohio University (USA), Ecole Supérieure de Lyon (France), among others. It i salso worth noting that the Doctorate’s Degree Course has interested students from other institutions throughout the country and abroad as well. The production of high quality scientific articles by our faculty has been a high priority factor o four program, presenting an ever growing rate. The Physics Post Graduation Program is regulated by CAPES rules e by the Resolutions 12/2008 and 04/2007 from UFU’s University Council.
Objective:
The main goal of the Physics Post Graduation Program (PPFIS) is the academic formation of Masters and Doctors in Basic and Aplied Physics, developing ressearch in Condensed Matter Physics (theoretical and/or experimental), aiming at technological applications. The training of highly qualified human resources in Physics has strengthened the execution of Research Projects of the Program's faculty members, carried out thanks to the resources obtained from funding agencies, such as: MCT / CNPq, FAPEMIG, CNPq, FINEP, CAPES / PROAP and CAPES. / PRODOC.
