The central objective of the Magnetic and Structural Properties of Solids Group (GPMES) is the synthesis and characterization (structural and magnetic) of systems with strong electronic correlations with different dimensions. The research areas are:

- Manufacture of new volumetric and nanostructured materials for studies from the point of view of fundamental physics and technological applications;

- Application of X-ray diffraction and X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAFS) in the structural characterization of materials;

- Synthesis and morphological, structural and magnetic characterization of metallic and insulating nanoparticles;

- Synthesis and physical characterization of new magnetoelectric materials.
